Good Friday

I do not have time as of now to create a proper post on Good Friday.   That would entail much dedication and a good amount amount of wordsmithing (not a word).  So instead of writing a half baked version of a fully baked piece on Good Friday I only wish to leave people with this thought.

Good Friday is not good because it is fun or makes us feel good.  It is good because of the suffering accomplished that day.  Nothing great can be accomplished with out great suffering.  If you are celebrating Good Friday then you should think of the suffering that was accomplished that day and not revel with joy but mourn and at the same time have hope.  God that day gave us opportunity to find real life.  This should bring great piece to your soul if it does not then I fear for your eternal well being.  Folks life is only accomplished through Christ.  He is the only way to the Father and thus the only way for peace, hope, love and freedom.  Have faith to know that even when it does not feel like it, if you are a Christian, even when the darkness surrounds you, even when you are down for the count or you have fallen to depths you did not know exist.  Christ is there.  There is forgiveness.  There is hope.  All you have to do is ask.  Ask Christ He is with you and He will answer it just may not be how you expect it.

Now go and celebrate Good Friday and participate in the suffering of Christ.  Remember what Peter says about Christ sufferings.

1 Peter 2:21-23 For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;

Race Relations (quick note)

Sorry folks but I feel the need to make yet another quick note.

I am currently sitting in a coffee shop typing away and I see something that is common place around here but I oft forget that not that long ago in our society (in my life time) it was  not.  I think we often forget how far we have come.  I think the vision DR. King had regarding being judged not by the color of ones skin but by the content of their character is well well underway.  I know that nothing is perfect  but as I am sitting here I saw 5 girls walk in (school just got out) and two are black, one white and one Asian.  They are laughing and having a good time.  They ordered coffee and are sitting together and not one eye in the house even cared. (maybe a few ears they are loud LOL)

When I was young this would not have happened.  The fact that not only is it happening but no one cares is a feat a miracle of God and the pain and the suffering so many went through to make this possible was worth it.  Next time you see someone acting like they should not (racially) remember things are much better and the generation coming up really know nothing of what many of us lived through.   Segregation and then Desegregation the blending of the races.

The old Sunday school song comes to mind.  “Red and Yellow black and white they are all precious in His sight.”

This blessed me in a very real way so I thought I would share.  What is even more fun about this they do not even realize how great it is to see.  They are just young girls having fun and enjoying each others company with no basis for making race a part of it.  I love it.

The Hate of the Perfect

Okay here is something I was thinking on this morning.  Everybody knows no one is perfect.  Some have better lives than others and there has only been one exception.  Jesus.  He was perfect.  People hated Him.  In fact in John 15:18 it says that they hated Jesus.  When you think on this Jesus was perfect and in being so it only accentuated the imperfection in everyone else.

People do not like to be reminded how imperfect they are especially if the one reminding them is not actually reminding them but showing them by living their life perfectly.  Jesus did not go around telling people they were imperfect. (He did say things like that it was not His main stay)  He went around teaching about God the Father.

Here is my thought on this.  The closer we get to Jesus the closer we get to perfection.  People hated Jesus and they will hate us.  Again if our lives show Jesus then there is little that need be said about the sin in another’s life our living will share about what real life is and that will bread hatred in some and longing in others.  It is our job to harvest those who long and continue to live life in Jesus for everyone else.  The closer we get to that perfection the more we will be at enmity with the world.

Just a quick thought.

John 15:18 If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.
